The Sepilok Rehabilitation Centre in North Borneo was set up with the aim of helping orphan orangutans to learn to survive in the wild. Sepilok have already successfully rehabilitated hundreds of orangutans back to the wild and are eager to continue this very essential work. Orangutan
babies stay with their mothers for up to 9 years, being taught the skills
they need to survive in the forest. Sepilok replaces the mothers teaching by pairing the youngsters with older orphan who will show them the skills they themselves have already learnt.
